Celebration

The Okanagan Arts Awards Celebration is a public event presenting awards to outstanding members of our arts community in the North, Central and South Okanagan. In 2008, the Okanagan Arts Awards Celebration will take place on Friday February 15th at the University of British Columbia Okanagan in the Sunroom at 6pm. The Sunroom is located in the Student Services Building.

The Okanagan Arts Awards Celebration aims to honour excellence in the arts by awarding 9 statues in categories ranging from Visual Arts to Dance, from Arts Educator to Media Arts.  The award itself includes events to further the artist’s career, including gallery openings and promotional packages. The objective of the Celebration is to provide an event that is affordable and accessible by all while highlighting the talent that our community has to offer.

The evening opens in the Sunroom with “Meet the Nominees” where attendees are encouraged to rub shoulders with the finest of our artists.  At 7pm the event moves to the presentation of the awards in the theatre along with performances and visual displays sponsored by the Spirit of BC Showcase which is sponsored by Legacies Now.  Following the ceremony is a luscious reception with a cash bar.
